Competitive Dance Team
Guidelines for Members and Parents

How to become a member:
- Eligible candidates include anyone with a positive attitude who is energetic, driven, and committed with a passion for performing.
- Dancers must have had at least 1 year of prior experience.
- Private auditions are set up as needed for new members.
- Current members do not need to re-audition, but must register during pre-registration in May.
- All team dancers must meet minimum requirements of dance hours with no exceptions. The comp team is a privilege, and the student must be fully participating with the right attitude throughout the year to continue membership on the team.
- There will be a minimum of 3 competitions to attend each year.
- There are extra costs involved with comp dance, including competition fees, and costumes. The competitive costumes might be a higher fee than recreational costumes.
Member Requirements, Rules, and Regulations:
- The time commitment from team members is higher than regular classes, and attendance to all classes is mandatory and essential. This applies to all technique and choreography classes. If a member is unable to attend, they must inform the academy prior to their class. Each absence over 3 will necessitate taking a private lesson to catch up with the class. This private lesson must be scheduled through the front desk and will be billed at the private lesson rate.
- Competitions can not be missed.
- Practice at home is essential as well as a willingness to work hard. You will need to bring in a blank CD so your teacher can provide you with a copy of your music.
- Students must be at each competition 1 hour early in full makeup, hair done, and in costume. Students are expected to stay at the competition until the adjudication and awards have been held.
- All members of the team and their parents are expected to dress and behave in an appropriate manner while at the academy and while representing the academy at events. They should consider themselves role models of sportsmanship.
- All members are required to participate in a Dance Intensive Camp in August to launch the new season.
