Academy Features Checklist

What should you look for when searching for music lessons?

Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where students of all ages will gain the skills necessary to enjoy music for a lifetime.

Curriculum Built upon the Most Current Research

The most up to date methods and materials go into our choice of curricula. We endeavor to incorporate the newest technology and research on music learning as it becomes available.

Professional Teaching Environment

In a professional school environment, students are not distracted by TV, pets, ringing phones, siblings, etc.; the focus for the given lesson time is learning music. Students are motivated by hearing peers who are at different levels and are playing different repertoire and styles. In our school, music is not just a hobby or sideline for our teachers; it is a responsibility which is taken very seriously.

Focus on Teaching

All we do is teach. We do not sell or rent musical instruments. This leaves us free to specialize in one thing - providing the highest quality music instruction.

All Ages - Beginners to Advanced

Students range from birth to 70 and up. We strive to make music lessons a rich and rewarding part of the lives for each of our students.

Emphasis on Theory

Though the vocabulary and methods of explanation vary greatly from preschoolers to adults, our commitment to teaching the theory behind the music allows students to take ownership of their playing and apply their knowledge to broader areas of interest.

Graduated Levels of Study

Beginning with the earliest Music Pups program, a student is able to stay with us and progress up to the most advanced levels of study.

National Music Certificate Program

The National Music Certificate Program (NMCP) provides a high quality, internationally recognized assessment tool designed to motivate students through the advancing levels of study and to recognize their achievements along the way.

Performance and Festival Opportunities

From studio and local community recitals to piano festivals, students may participate in a wide variety of events. These events are great for encouragement and motivation. See Student Events.

Nationally Certified Teacher of Music and Professional Affiliation

"Nationally Certified" is a distinction awarded by the Music Teachers National Association to teachers that have met a stringent criteria of excellence both in education and experience. Click here to see the professional organizations with which WCAOM is affiliated.
