Students can start private music lessons at any time of the year, so there is no need to wait to get started. The private lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 minute increments. Advanced students (late intermediate and up) are encouraged to take 45 or 60 minute lessons. Contact WCAOMD to see which days and times are available.
In addition to weekly private lessons, all private music students are placed into small groups, 3 times per year, for musicianship classes. These classes focus on developing the "total musician" by exploring such topics as performance skills, theory, ear training, transposing, sight reading, ensemble playing, style periods, improvisation, and more. All musicianship classes are one hour in length.
In private lessons, our students learn to master the their chosen instruments and to communicate musical purpose and meaning through that instrument. Students of all ages and abilities learn the technical and musical skills to make their chosen discipline a vehicle for self expression and enjoyment.
The private lesson format is particularly well suited for students wishing to pursue a specific course of study such as the National Music Certificate Program or the Suzuki Course.
